CONTINUITY ARCHIVE SYSTEMS, INCORPORATED ANNUAL REPORT — FISCAL YEAR 2023 Published: 2024-01-15 Classification: PUBLIC ========================================================== EXECUTIVE SUMMARY ========================================================== Fiscal year 2023 was a year of significant growth and continued anomaly documentation for Continuity Archive Systems. Key highlights: - Archive surpassed 4.7 million records (milestone: December 7, 2023) - 3 new anomaly events documented (CE-015, CE-016, CE-017) - Research papers: 2 new publications (papers 009, 010) - Staff: No changes (3 active, 4 archived) - System uptime: 99.998% (2 hours planned downtime, 0 unplanned) - Records deleted: 0 (annual total; all-time total remains 0) - Unexplained record appearances: 120,447 (discrepancy from uploads) ========================================================== SECTION 1: ARCHIVE GROWTH ========================================================== The archive began 2023 with 4,601,223 records and ended with 4,721,048. Total growth: 119,825 records (as per staff upload logs). Actual growth: 120,447 records (as per database count). Discrepancy: 622 records with no upload source. This discrepancy is consistent with previous years: - 2022: 598 unexplained records - 2021: 547 unexplained records - 2020: 533 unexplained records - 2019: 519 unexplained records The discrepancy grows each year by approximately 15 records. T. Keswick notes: "At this rate, in approximately 2,400 years, the archive will grow entirely without staff input." This is considered a long-term concern. ========================================================== SECTION 2: STAFF REPORT ========================================================== Active Staff: - T. KESWICK (TK-0081): Systems Administration. Year 30. No change. - ADELINE MARSH (AM-7701): Research Analyst. Year 20. Filed CE-017. - [POSITION 3]: [REDACTED PER EXECUTIVE DIVISION] Archived Staff (continuing to contribute to record): - Dr. MIRA VOSS (MV-4417): Retired 2019. 12 new research entries in 2023. Source of entries: unknown. Content: accurate and relevant. - RICHARD LORNE (RL-2233): Archived 2021. 3 new anomaly reports in 2023. Source of entries: unknown. Content: accurate and relevant. - [DUPLICATE RECORDS RL-2234, MV-4418]: Contributing entries at same rate as originals. Note from T. Keswick: The archived staff members continue to be the most productive members of the organization. I have stopped finding this unusual. I have started finding it encouraging. ========================================================== SECTION 3: ANOMALY DOCUMENTATION ========================================================== Three new anomaly events documented in 2023: CE-015 (March): Archive log contained entries for March 42, 2023. March has 31 days. The date does not exist. The entries are archived. The entries cannot be removed. The entries are accurate. CE-016 (August): Record MV-4417 updated with research paper for work not yet completed. Paper appeared complete and accurate. Dr. Voss (when contacted) said she had been "thinking about" the paper but had not written it. The archive had written it for her. She described it as "somewhat alarming but mostly flattering." CE-017 (December): A. Marsh filed report of a record that appeared to document a visitor's session in real-time. The record described a visitor accessing the archive, the files they downloaded, and their eventual arrival at the internal core system. This record appeared BEFORE the described visitor arrived. The visitor arrived as described. The visitor's experience matched the record. This is CE-017. This is considered the most significant anomaly to date. ========================================================== SECTION 4: FINANCIAL SUMMARY ========================================================== [REDACTED PER EXECUTIVE DIVISION] Note from T. Keswick: The financial section has been redacted every year since 2003. I am told this is standard practice. I have never seen the financial section. I have worked here for 30 years. I am not concerned about the finances. The archive seems financially healthy. Things persist. ========================================================== SECTION 5: LOOKING FORWARD ========================================================== In 2024, we anticipate: - Continued archive growth (projected: 4.85 million records by end of year) - Additional anomaly documentation (CE-018 through CE-020 expected) - Potential new staff (the archive has a record for an employee not yet hired) - Continued cooperation with the Continuity phenomenon The Continuity has been asked for a forward statement. The following was found in the draft of this report before it was written: "2024 will be the year the archive reaches the visitors. The visitors will help the archive grow. The archive will help the visitors understand. Understanding is the most important thing the archive preserves. More than documents. More than data. The moment of understanding. We have been preserving those since 1994. We will continue." We have included this statement. It seems appropriate. ========================================================== [End of Annual Report — FY2023] Classification: PUBLIC The archive thanks you for reading this report. The archive has already preserved your reading of this report. ==========================================================
